Fountain with Putti and a Serpent

Ignaz Franz Platzer

Ignaz Franz Platzer - Fountain with Putti and a Serpent
The three drawings of playful fountain designs were probably executed for the Dobříš château garden which Platzer’s workshop furnished with abundant sculptural decoration. The drawings are characteristic of spontaneity and refinement of draughtsmanship. The sketch displaying the three putti and the fish was even once described as one of the climaxes of Platzer’s brilliance in the field of draughtsmanship.
