The Flagellation of Christ

In Tkadlík’s later works, the decline of creative energy coupled with the deepened overall seriousness and deviation from the charmingly beautiful forms. This feature, manifesting itself in exalted gestures and pained expressions of the figures is most clearly apparent in the last finished painting of the Finding of the Holy Cross as well as in the drawing of the Flagellation of Christ.
