At the other end of the spectrum from child portraits, is Tkadlík’s Portrait of Old Mrs. Srdínko from 1813, but essentially they do share some aspects, such as the same interest in the extremes of human age, combining objective observation with an effort to capture type, and the cool detachment of a refined drawing with an intimate and somewhat disquieting look into the depths of age.
