Veronika Bromová - Interview
Veronika Bromová studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in years 1987– 1993. In the early 1990s she became part of the young generation of artists who emerged on the local scene after the Velvet Revolutio. Her photographs often work with the motif o her own body – she adjusts digital photographs, manipulating their primary meanings. She creates ulti-media installations ; exploring the aesthetics of ugliness, which she contrasts with received notions of beauty. She achieves an unsettling and decadent atmosphere in her expressive photographs that is close to Surrealist works. Her photograph Interview (1995) is part of a cycle in which the artist addresses the theme of the self-portrait.
