Still Life with Flowers

Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele - Still Life with Flowers
The art of Egon Schiele, a prominent Austrian expressionist, drew inspiration from the Viennese Art Nouveau style. The planarity of still lifes and rather Japanese-like composition arise directly from this inspiration. From the very beginning of his artistic path, Schiele’s still lifes inclined towards the implementation of vertical and horizontal line compositions and the geometric visualisation of organic shapes which increased the urgent testimonies of his artworks. His Still Life with Flowers is an epitome of this method.
