Roman Tramway

Beneš Knüpfer

Beneš Knüpfer - Roman Tramway
In 1879 the Ministry of Education in Vienna granted Beneš Knüpfer a two-year scholarship for Rome. The city charmed him - at first he prolonged his study stay and then decided to settle in Rome for good. At the turn of the century he recorded the atmosphere of the capital in several pictures, e.g. the early days of the electrical tramway. Knüpfer handled the motif in two versions, which are of a different size - the second picture is called Meeting at the tram stop.
