Vojtěch Bartoněk - Conscripts
Bartoněk's painting, which he exhibited at the 1891 Centenary Exhibition in Prague, was one of the best-known pictures, in which Czech genre painting came close to the understanding of modern life as contrasts of ordinary and unique moments. The painter used the description of the market outside St Gallus church in the Prague Old Town as the setting for a scene from the life of young conscripts.
