Self-Portrait with a Glass

Lovis Corinth

Lovis Corinth - Self-Portrait with a Glass
Lovis Corinth is one of the most remarkable figures of German painting at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Influences of impressionism and expressionism as well as symbolism meet notably in his paintings. Corinth was from the generation of artists who had authentic experiences with the Paris art scene. He was also an active member of the Berlin Secession which he chaired since 1911. His Self-Portrait with a Glass is from the large series of self-portraits that Corinth painted during his career. The robust painting is dynamic both by the form and content.
