Jaroslav Čermák - Life on the Sea - Shore near Roscoff
From 1869 until his death Čermák used to spend the summer months in a the small fishing village Roscoff near Marlaix on the Brittany coast. In the rocky country by the sea he found several genre motifs from the life of Breton fishermen and peasants. This realistic view is one of Čermák's best pictures from that period - its impact due to his masterful handling of the brush and chiaroscuro colour range.
