Jan Jansz. den Uyl - Still Life with a Pewter Jug
In the 1630s a new, dynamic concept of still-life painting developer, termed a monochrome banquet. It is typified in the painting by the Amsterdam artist Jan Jansz. Van den Uyl. The heaping of the objects on one side, a limited colour range and light as the unifying element of the composition are the basic features of the new approach to the subject.
