Wenzel Hablik - Crystal Castle in the Sea
In his earlier work, Wenzel Hablik inclined to phantasy areas, adopting cosmological inspirations and stimuli from nature. After he left Bohemia for Germany, his drawings and paintings featured the topic of the end of the old world associated with utopia which he presented in the remarkable painting Crystal Castle in the Sea in 1914, adopting the idea of visionary crystal glass structures influenced by the texts of Paul Scheerbart.
