Vojtěch Hynais - Portrait of the Artist’s Mother
Anna Hynaisová, born Žďárská, came from Soudná, a small village near Jičín. She went to Vienna with her tailor husband, who found there a good livelihood. Hynais painted his mother, sitting in an armchair with an open Bible in her lap, in a single day during a fleeting visit to his parents, having attended on 18 November 1883 the solemn performance of Smetana's Libuše at the Prague National Theatre, with his curtain going up for the first time.
