Goose Girl

Vojtěch Bartoněk

Vojtěch Bartoněk - Goose Girl
The National Gallery acquired the Goose Girl as well as the Grazing (Rural Idyll) from the bequest of the physician and writer, Professor Josef Thomayer (1853-1927). The collector’s choice was not coincidental because Thomayer came from Trhanov, a village in the Chodsko region, and in his works of fiction he often recalled the rural life and its hard work as well as his childhood spent amongst the beauty of nature.
