Alois Bubák - A Summer Afternoon in the Hills by the River Jizera
A typical feature of this panoramatic view of the sandstone hills by the river Jizera is a calm, by no means Romantic mood. The view into the deep valley is modelled chiefly with delicate colours and brownish hues, the main role is played by light. At the time the painting was highly appreciated by the poet and art critic Jan Neruda and the painter Karel Purkyně, in the first place for its modern approach and sensitive handling of light.
