Alois Bubák

Alois Bubák - Lake in the Mountains
At the turn of the 1850s Bubák was attracted not only to the Giant Mountains, but also to the Šumava region, because of its wild and inaccessible nature the ideal of Romantics. Bubák complemented the mysterious and emotional traits of the Šumava forests, lakes, bogs with stormy weather, a full moon, castle ruins and an occasional lonely human figure. In 1855 he prepared with oil paintings and drawings of various Šumava lakes a large painting with a view of the Šumava lake Plešné jezero.
