Incognito Heart

Ladislav Zívr - Incognito Heart
Incognito Heart is the only preserved object from the Surrealist sculptures that Ladislav Zívr created between 1933 and 1937. The stimuli for the creation of objects based on the Surrealist aesthetic of incidental encounters and unexpected combinations of diverse materials came from his imagination and unconscious impulses, and also reflected the artist’s specific personal experiences. The sculptures were rendered as assemblages composed of ruined objects found on dumps and in attics, organic objects and plaster casts. Zívr complemented his Surrealist works with poetic commentaries. The object, whose principal motif is a pair of women's shoes arranged into a shape reminiscent of a heart and wound with red yarn and a rosary, was accompanied with the double verse: The green shoes in waiting have stopped dancing / in the fabric of the bush of the Virgin Mary under a glass cover.
