Tony Cragg - Social Situation
Using simple means and materials, Tony Cragg created a metaphoric picture of social bonds – although the table, chair, and pieces of wood exist separately, they are connected with many hooks into a single whole, which can be separated with difficulties only, similar to members of a social group who are bound together with psychic bonds, standards, commitments, and mutual communication into a internally interconnected unit. The loose hooks represent the potential of further social contacts and bonds.
