Stefano della Bella - engraver - Polish Horseman
The depiction of the Polish horseman suggests a connection with the drawings the artist did in December 1645 on the occasion of the arrival of the Polish ambassador Krzystof Opaliński in Paris. They were greatly influential for their monumental compositions, exotic theme and brilliant execution. They seemed to serve as inspiration for Rembrandt’s painting Polish Horseman.
