The New Church (Nieuwe Kerk in Dutch) is a major sacral building in Amsterdam. It was founded in 1408 when the existing church became too small for its worshippers. Like other churches in Amsterdam, it was originally consecrated to the Virgin Mary and St Catherine and became Calvinist during the Reformation.
