Self-portrait with a Cap

Wallerant Vaillant

Wallerant Vaillant - Self-portrait with a Cap
Both plain and stylised self-portraits, produced by painting, drawing and mezzotint, represent a special category in Vaillant's production. All of them are sharply introspective. The self-portrait with a coat and cap is one of his most famous portraits. J.E. Wessely, the author of the first monograph of W. Vaillant, made its etching reproduction.
