William Hogarth - engraver - Noon
Noon is set in the Soho district of London, inhabited in Hogath's day by a large Huguenot community, and highlights the contrast not only between the refined Frenchmen and the boisterous down-to-earth English, but also of the spiritual world (represented by the Church of St. Giles-in-the-Fields) as opposed to earthly hedonism.
