Kindō Hayashi - Drifting Snow (Hisetsu)
Calligrapher Hayashi Kindō (1922–2009) was the first president of the Sankei International Calligraphy Association (Sankei kokusai shokai) established in 1984 under the aegis of the influential financial newspaper Sankei Shimbun published first in Osaka and then Tokyo. The calligraphy is written in the large solitary characters daijisho for the verb “fly, drift” (tobu) and the noun “snow” (yuki). The impression of drifting snow is also suggested by the wavy cursive style of the “running” script gyōsho.
