Stone (Ishi)

Tankyū Sano

Tankyū Sano - Stone (Ishi)
The master Tankyū Sano (1926–2009) is represented by a formal abstraction of the solitary character “stone” (ishi). The character is created through visual abstraction out of dynamic brushstrokes that borrow on the techniques of painting, an approach that imparts a lively rhythm to the calligraphy. The character conveys the firmness of a stone.
