Anonymous artist - Incense burner shaped like a seated beauty
This beautiful figure made in Arita leans against her right hand, while her legs bear a lid concealing a miniature incense burner. Her uchikake kimono is decorated with sparse blossoms, scrollwork and medallions shaped like the geometric pine bark matsukawabishi. The undergarment is decorated with painted clouds, while the obi sash bears geometric latticework. Figures of seated beauties are rare in the Czech collections and can only be found in the National Gallery in Prague.
