The bowl’s interior is decorated with the motif of a flowing stream with Japanese aquatic plants – arrowhead and hollyhock. The outer surfaces display a decorative band, central to which are two opposing family crests showing the inscribed body of a crane surrounded by paulownia sprays and karakusa scrollwork with foliage and tendrils. The bottom is executed in plain nashiji technique. (See Filip Suchomel and Marcela Suchomelová: A Surface Created for Decoration, Prague 2002, pp. 328–329)
