The lid of this circular box is decorated with an imaginary landscape with jagged rocks in the first, second and third bands. The rocks are complemented with a Buddhist temple, pagoda and meditation hall by a lake. The landscape includes typical Japanese flowers and plants, such as a pine tree, prunus, maple and oak trees and reeds. The border bears motifs of rocks, pine trees prunus, bamboo, chrysanthemum, lespedeza, Chinese bellflower, maiden flower and fern.
