Anonymous artist - Jardinière decorated with rocks, peonies and prunus blossoms
The inside of this Arita jardinière bears a twig of peony and grasses in the central medallion, while the rims are adorned with two opposing depictions of peonies and prunus. The edge bears a geometric undulating line with prunus and chrysanthemum blossoms. The lower part of the outer wall bears a painted band with scrollwork with foliage and a band of spirals. The main outer decoration consists of a band of rocks with peonies and prunus blossoms. The bottom bears three haris, remnants left by the supporting cone that prevented the vessel’s flat parts from collapsing.
