around 1460-1470) Anonymous (North-West Bohemia - Votive Panel of the Lord of Všechlapy - Crucifixion
Because of the inscription near the bottom edge of the painting, it is assumed that the Crucifixion panel has ties with the region of North-West Bohemia, namely with the lords of Všechlapy who held the local citadel. The manor was later annexed to the Duchcov dominion (1952). The composition follows the traditional canon - Christ on the cross is accompanied by the grieving Virgin Mary and St John the Evangelist. Even before the panel was trimmed, the cross was T-shaped and likely held a plate with an inscription “INRI”. In terms of quality, the painting is an example of average workshop production, but it has an idiosyncratic charm, despite a considerable degree of stylization. The underdrawing is significantly more expressive and idiosyncratic than the final painting. Numerous partial corrections can also be observed especially in the underdrawing of Christ on the cross.
