Portrait of General Ludwig Vogelsang

Josef Bergler jun.

Josef Bergler jun. - Portrait of General Ludwig Vogelsang
Pure Neo-Classicist form and unobtrusive colours are the chief characteristics of this portrait of general Ludwig Vogelsang, knight of the Maria Theresa Order, commander of the 47th infantry regiment and of the fortress Josefov. Bergler painted the portrait, while working on the alter-pieces of the Ascension for the Josefov parish church, built in the years 1805-10 and consecrated in 1811. In addition, Bergler designed for Josefov a fountain with figures (made after his designs by the sculptor Malinský and completed in 1817).
