Max Haushofer

Max Haushofer - Weissensee near Lermoos in Tyrol
Maximilian Haushofer painted along the lines of Carl Rottmann, but very soon he replaced his ideal compositions with genuine views of nature, in which he sought strange and dramatic configurations, while emphasizing the colour elements of paintings. In this Alpine landscape, painted by Haushofer late in life, we find all the elements of his composition range. Mountain peaks, their tops covered with eternal snow, towering over the lake, an intricately arranged stony bank and a picturesque group of pine-trees, everything in Haushofer's favourite colour scheme of brownish, greenish and purplish tones.
