Master of the Marian Altarpiece from Seeberg - circle (West Bohemia) - St Margaret
The statue of St Margaret shows clearly the variety of styles that exercised their influence on the statue production in West Bohemia in the first quarter of the 16th century. The influence of the Master of the St Justus Church is typical of the region of Cheb. The Master came to this region most likely from the circle of the outstanding sculptor Hans Leinberger from Landshut. However, the sculptor of St Margaret did not reach the qualities of his teacher and took on the principals of his dynamic compositions without a deeper comprehension plainly as decorative elements.
