“A Book of Fans” (Ōgi no sōshi) is a unique collection of illustrated poems waka composed by a variety of both anonymous and well-known authors and drawn from different sources. The poetry is accompanied by small fans painted in the yamato-e style. The Prague version includes 40 sheets, each with three poems. These 120 poems thus make it the longest known surviving example of “The Book of Fans”.
