Incense burner ding with wooden lid

Anonymous - Incense burner ding with wooden lid
The ware’s shape is inspired by the ancient bronze tripod ding, which was often imitated in Chinese applied arts in later periods in ceramics and other materials. Like many other metal vessels of later date, such incense burners served as luxurious interior decoration. The elegant gold inlays on the body are complemented with fine carvings on the base and lid, which is topped with a button of noble stone shaped like a mushroom lingzhi, a symbol of immortality in Chinese art.
