Antonín Chittussi

Antonín Chittussi - Gentilly-Arcueil
Chittussi arrived in France for the first time in 1879 and he adjusted rapidly to the different artistic ambience under the influence of the founders of the Barbizon school and in the company of its second-generation painters. This painting, in which Chittussi articulated the landscape into horizontal bands of different colours, boasts free brushwork, and a wide range of rich colours. Originally, the picture was in the collection of Chittussi's pupil and friend, Zdenka Braunerová.
