Man of Sorrows

The subject of the Man of Sorrows - the Ecce Homo type - was more frequent among the works of the sculptor and architect, Matteo Civitali. It was rendered in marble, wood and terracotta, with masterly knowledge of each technique, which enabled him to express the depth of the agony in convincing emotions.
