Alois Bubák - In the vicinity of Bezděz
In the early 1860s Bubák painted many landscapes from various regions in central Bohemia (Mladá Boleslav, Mnichovo Hradiště, Turnov) and from the vicinity of Bezděz and the river Jizera. In these paintings he depicted the essential, typical features of his native country. Bubák painted several times the countryside in the vicinity of the two hills, Velký (Big) Bezděz with the ruins of Bezděz castle and the neighbouring Malý (Small) Bezděz. In this painting Bubák came close to Kosárek’s concept of landscapes in both composition and atmosphere.
