Design of sanitary facility for prefab buildings, variant No. 1

Karel Janů - Design of sanitary facility for prefab buildings, variant No. 1
Beginning in the mid-1930s, Karel Janů and his colleagues became engaged in the issues of prefabrication and industrialisation of the construction industry. The first collection of sketches and designs has survived from 1945, showing direction to the search for the optimal shape of a prefabricate that would be produced industrially outside the construction site. During the mounting, it would concentrate all the water and sewage rising mains into a single point, accelerating the building process and making it more efficient. The design takes into account the essential equipment only, not the entire space of adjacent rooms. It is worth noticing that the design also allowed for a bidet at the toilet. The drawing itself is quite poetical due to the hatching of the cast shades.
