Austrian School (1670) - Portrait of Franz Anton von Troyer Giessbach, Baron of Treuenstein
The inscription on the back of the canvas, preserved only in fragments, makes possible a suggestion that this is Franz Anton von Troyer-Giessbach (1652-1712) - the son of Zyriak II von Troyer-Giessbach and a representative of the Tirolean family of the Troyers of Giessbach. The title of Freyherr auf Treuenstein had already been lent to Zyriak, who obtained Castle Treuenstein in 1656. Franz Anton gradually married Maria Elisabeth von Furtenbach, Maria von Strauss and Maria Maxmiliana, Baroness of Teuffenbach. He held the posts of the court chancellor and secret councillor, and in 1697 he was promoted to the rank of count.
