Aphrodite’s Garland continues (in expression, not time) the illustrations for The Song of Songs but are remarkably less convincing which Kupka realised and thus signed them with a pseudonym Paul Regnard. In 1917, when he made the illustrations, Kupka focused on a different direction and accepted the commission mainly for existential reasons.
