Diana and Endymion

Ignaz Franz Platzer

Ignaz Franz Platzer - Diana and Endymion
The drawing captures a subject and a compositional scheme to which Platzer liked to return. It is one of the variants of designs intended for a group sculpture or a relief of unknown purpose. Platzer employed similar composition when working on the subject of the dying Adonis as well as on the tomb of St Nepomucene, situated outside the St Vitus’ Cathedral.
