Karl Andreas Ruthart - Boar Hunt
The painting presents a boar hounded by dogs. The small size of the plate and the refined and detailed brushwork attest to Ruthart’s painting range, which included both the small cabinet works, and large-size canvases. The composition of painting is based on the works of Frans Snyders. Ruthart devoted himself to the theme of boar hunt several times; the figures of the boar in fact cite each other. Another important motif in the Boar Hunt from the National Gallery in Prague is the figure of the hunter on horseback, which was also used by Ruthart in other paintings, for example, Stag Hunt, 1663 from Budapest, Szépmüvészeti Múzeum.
