Vojtěch Bartoněk - Study of a Seated Male Nude
Upon completing his studies at the Prague Academy, Bartoněk left for Paris in the summer of 1889 with a letter of recommendation from Josef Václav Myslbek to Vojtěch Hynais. Hynais, who had lived in Paris since the end of the 1870s, not only provided advice but also his studio for the newly arriving artists. At the time of Bartoněk's arrival in Paris, there was a sizable group of compatriots such as Václav Brožík, Alfons Mucha, and Zdenka Braunerová; Luděk Marold arrived at the same time as Bartoněk. The study of a male nude signed V.Bartoněk Paříž 9/11 89 evidences that he attended a private painting school in Paris where he again began with a study of a model.
