Peter Parler Received by Charles IV

Vojtěch Bartoněk

Vojtěch Bartoněk - Peter Parler Received by Charles IV
Vojtěch Bartoněk studied at the Prague Academy between 1873 and 1889. During his studies, he displayed his artworks at the Fine Arts Union annual exhibition. In 1885, Bartoněk’s canvas Peter Parler Received by Charles IV was one of the first pieces he sent to this annual exhibition of the home and foreign art production. The historic theme is rather exceptional in the artist's oeuvre, although it was a respectable presentation by the Academy students. Nevertheless, Bartoněk and his schoolfellows were much more interested in portraying everyday life which they began to pursue soon afterwards.
