Magic of Things I

In her paper artwork, Adriena Šimotová successfully interconnects the evanescence to topics associated with non-lasting physical and emotional experiences: by physical touches, emotional traces, and memories associated with interpersonal relationships as well as communication or its absence. Generous Frottages of Magic I and II express the feeling of home through the most elementary symbol – a table, the heart of family. Indicated by a laconic drawing, its round form has become a basis for Šimotová to articulate the immaterial imprints of objects she is strongly familiar with. Countless times touched bread, food, and dishes as part of an everyday ritual emanate spirituality of the most common yet essential things of our lives.
