Vojtěch Hynais - Portrait of Leopold Katz
Hynais portrayed his friend and lawyer Leopold Katz in accordance with the meticulous Naturalism of the turn of the century. Katz was a great patron of artists and art collector. He died in the same year (1927) as professor Thomayer and, as Thomayer, he bequeathed his collection to the Modern Gallery, being a member of its governing body. Leopold Katz set up a foundation at the Arts Academy for awards to artists.
