Max Pirner is one of the founders of symbolism in the Czech milieu. His combination of Neo-Romantic poeticism and dismal visions of symbolism forms a rather noteworthy union. Nonetheless, his dreamy fairytale scenes gradually receive a darker and gloomier character and the depicted beings become more dreadful.
