The attribution of The Virgin and Child with St Anne underwent multiple changes; most researchers sought the artist in Bruges, Antwerp, Brussels, and the Southern Netherlands, speculating about a South Netherlandish artist whose work reflects the influences of the main art centres in the Southern Netherlands in the early 16th century.
