František Kyncl - Monostructure - Little Cosmos
Geometric structures constitute the principal theme of František Kyncl’s work. In the 1970s, he began to compose objects from bamboo sticks, which he called monostructures. Their basis was a regular tetrahedron. By adding more and more basic units in different variations, he built regular structures with a lavishly articulated inner space, which also have the potential to grow infinitely and fill a space. We can therefore perceive the spatial installation as a materialized section of an indefinite super-structure linked with the cosmic order.
