The Crucifixion of St Peter

Benoit Thiboust (1660-1719?), a native of Chartres, based his oeuvre on works by Claude Mellan, although he never managed to achieve the technical bravura of the latter artist. He mainly developed on paintings by Italian masters, translating their works with maximum attention to detail. The only substantial difference between the displayed engraving and its model, a painting by Guido Reni, is the mirror inversion.
