The sarcophagus of the monument dedicated to Lorenzo di Piero de’ Medici in the funeral chapel of the Medicis in the New Sacristy is adorned with sculptural figures of Dusk (male) and Dawn (female). The original plan included two river gods to be placed at the foot of the sarcophagus but these sculptures (just as the tomb of Lorenzo and Giuliano de’ Medici) were never executed.
